I do not see a problem with an addition of up to a 600 RMS Class D mono amplifier with 4 ga OFC wiring supply kit and be fine. It would be advisable to add the Big 3 with 4ga or 0ga OFC if you have some voltage issues or light dimming issues. Yet, I think you will be just fine

You are clipping at the HU, and as stated.. will eventually damage the HU if continued. sounds like you need a little more power as stated. A 2 ch amplifier would work excellent for the need. Though.. It will be better to find a 4 ch to use for the money spent as you will find a better selection...

Deff,. You will be Hard Pressed/ even lucky to find the wiring plug adapter for that old unit. Id cut it off and move forward on it.

Ill also add that, its nice to have rear fill for passengers and for that surround sound affect, especially for an SUV or a 4 dr vehicle. If the HU has the option to use Time Alignment you can use that feature to as well for your needs.

I would utilize the that factory location myself. Though.. You can take and try the other location of the dash temp setup to see which location sounds best to you. Tape or velcro works great usually to try different locations.
