The LC7i Pro is a very good quality unit that will likely have as good or better noise specs than most any HU out there. It's one of the better LOCs you could use. It will not degrade your HU quality at all.

Just tack (glue or screw cable clips, no nails) the wire down through or around the port area. The length is not a factor. The bigger concern is having a wire rattling around. As long as the wire is less than 12.5 miles, you should be fine. ;)
